WordPress 2.7 Beta – An Introduction (screencast)

Old Posts 26 Comments »

A lot of people have been asking me to explain some of the new features in WordPress 2.7 – the main ones are the admin Interface and some of the new, movable widget-like items in the post menu and on the dashboard.  But, it’s hard to talk about visual changes when, to be honest, you can’t see them.  Enjoy this >5 minute screencast on some of the new features included in WordPress 2.7.

Great screen cast. I am considering moving my blog http://hostedvoipinfo.net to WP 2.7. As with any upgrade I am very nervous about doing that.

Have you had any problems with 2.7 yet?

It's true that they do update quite a bit, but I'd rather have the nice security fixes they give than leave my blog exposed to the bugs.

And, this particular install is nicknamed "crazyhorse"... after the fact that they wanted to redesign everything from the ground up. I think they hit a winner, and hopefully there'll be no more new design changes coming too soon.

Thanks for sharing. I haven't had a chance to work with WordPress 2.7 yet, as I'm still catching up with 2.6. I'm curious to see how compatible plugins will be for 2.7. 2.6 wiped out the Mighty Seek Podcast Plugin, and from what I've heard, it's just now launching a 2.6 compatible plugin in the next week. I feel that's the only drawback to updating a blog too soon, the plugins usually need time to catch up. And it seems the community is just catching up when they launch yet another version of WordPress...it looks nice though.

That was really cool, Mitch! I wish I could move over to my own site at some point.

Woh!!! its very informative.

Woh!!! its very informative.

Very informative screencast! Updating can be scary, but I think it may be worthwhile to upgrade some of our less maintained blogs to 2.7.

Oh, I just installed my first Word Press 2.0 blog. I absolutely love it. It's got way more features than the previous version and the interface is a lot cleaner, too.
I recommend it to anyone!

thanks
